- Retail sales in Ireland fell in July, figures from the Central Statistics office showed on Monday.
Month-on-month, retail sales volumes fell 1.6%, matching June's result. On an annual basis, sales fell 8.1%, deepening from June's 7.3% decline.
The largest monthly decrease was seen in books, newspapers & stationery, down 27%. Meanwhile, bars recorded the largest monthly gain, of 23%.
