STV Group PLC - Glasgow-based television broadcaster - Wins commission from Channel 5 to produce new daytime series The Great Auction Showdown from STV Studios, Scotland. The series will be presented by antiques dealer Paul Martin.

STV says the new programme series forms part of Channel 5's expansion strategy to bring original programming to daytime television.

It is also the ‘latest in a series of high-value commissions’, following Channel 4's recommission of drama Screw and new 8-part thriller Criminal Record for Apple, the company adds.

Last week, STV updated its guidance advising that it now produces nine returning series and will exceed its three-year target to more than quadruple annual revenue to £40 million by the end of 2023.

Creative Director of Factual at STV Studio Craig Hunter comments: ‘We're thrilled to be partnering with Channel 5 for this fun and competitive new format. Paul is the consummate host and pitting him against new experts each week promises to be a fast paced and energetic showdown.’
