AfriTin Mining Ltd on Thursday said it has appointed Hiten Ooka as its new chief financial officer.

Ooka succeeds Robert Sewell as CFO. Sewell joined Mkango Resources Ltd at the start of the July, but will remain as a consultant to AfriTin Mining in the short-term to ensure a smooth transition process.

Ooka joins from South Africa focused-vanadium producer Bushveld Minerals Ltd, where he was head of finance.

Chief Executive Officer Anthony Viljoen said: ‘Hiten brings an impressive operational and technical track record to AfriTin at this important juncture for the company. His experience will be vital as the company expands its strategic resources, to bringing its lithium and tantalum streams into production and complementing the already successful tin operations.’

Shares in AfriTin were down 3.1% to 4.70 pence each in London on Thursday around midday.
