Ireland's yearly retail sales declined worsened in June, provisional figures on Thursday showed.
According to early figures from the Central Statistics Office, retail sales dropped 6.6% annually in June, the decline picking up speed from a 3.0% fall in May.
Retail sales fell 1.3% in June from May. In May, they had also fallen 1.3% on a monthly basis.
The largest monthly declines came in electrical goods sales, down 14%.
On an annual basis, sales in bars surged 54%, lapping an easier Covid-hit comparison. However, the CSO noted bar sales are 24% below pre-virus levels.
