Fidelity Japan Trust PLC - Kent, England-based investment trust focused on Japan - On Wednesday, reported a loss on investment of £85.7 million in the six months ended June 30, swinging from a profit of £3.1 million the previous year. Income falls to £1.8 million from £2 million. Net assets value per share at June 30 164.47 pence, down from 240.73p at December 31. NAV return in the half is negative 31.7%, underperforming the firm's unnamed reference index which returned negative 10.0% in the same period. Calls the first half of the year ‘difficult’, notes headwinds for the Japanese yen, inflation and supply chain disruption. Looking forward, expects ‘macroeconomic uncertainty’.
