Ireland yearly inflation rate steady at 9.1% in July

Ireland's annual inflation rate was stable in July, figures on Thursday showed.

According to the Central Statistics Office, Ireland's yearly inflation rate was unchanged at 9.1% in July. The figure for June, also 9.1%, had accelerated from 7.8% in May.

On a monthly basis, the consumer price index rose 0.4% in July from June. Monthly growth slowed from 1.3% in June.

‘The most significant monthly price changes were increases in transport (1.8%) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.5%). There was a decrease in clothing & footwear (5.0%),’ CSO said.

On a harmonised basis, allowing for EU-wide comparison, Ireland's yearly inflation rate was stable at 9.6% in July.

Monthly growth ebbed to 0.4% in July, from 1.3% in June.
