Anglo Asian Mining PLC on Tuesday said that it has completed a mining scoping study for the Zafar underground mine, located close to the Gedabek processing facilities in Azerbaijan.

Anglo Asian is a gold, copper and silver producer focused on Azerbaijan.

The study of Zafar included a review of geotechnical conditions, optimal mining methods and mine scheduling and design.

The firm told investors that the mine will be constructed using sub-level caving, supplemented by sub-level open stoping on the margins of the mineralised zone.

Anglo Asian is currently in the process of constructing a primary haulage decline to access the ore body and a parallel ventilation decline.

Construction has started on the two portals, which are about 850 metres away from the company’s existing processing facilities and about 1,000 metres from the mineralisation. Earthworks for the twin portals, power and compressor areas and a large laydown area for equipment have been completed.

Anglo Asian shares were trading 3.6% higher at 98.98 pence each in London on Tuesday morning.
