Irish retail sales see 0.1% growth in January from December

Irish retail sales saw marginal growth at the beginning of 2023, according to official data on Tuesday.

Ireland’s Central Statistics Office said retail sales rose by 0.1% month-on-month in January, compared to a 0.2% fall in December.

Annually, retail sales were up 3.0% in January, decelerating from 11% growth seen in December.

‘In January 2023, the largest monthly volume increases were recorded in Furniture & Lighting, up 28%, Clothing, Footwear & Textiles, up 27%, Fuel, up 3.4%, and Books, Newspapers & Stationery, up 2.6%,’ the CSO said.
