Inflation in Ireland cooled against in April, a preliminary estimate from the Central Statistics Office showed on Friday.
The CSO said the flash harmonised yearly inflation rate eased to 6.3% in April, from 7.0% in March. The harmonised measure is made to allow for EU-wide comparison. The CSO did not report a flash headline inflation rate.
On a monthly basis, harmonised prices rose 0.3% in April from March. They had risen 0.9% in March from February.
Energy prices fell 1.3% on a monthly basis in April, but rose 12% year-on-year. Food prices edged up 0.5% monthly, and jumped 13% yearly.
