IN BRIEF: Chemring hires Smiths Group’s James Mortensen as new CFO

Chemring Group PLC - Romsey, England-based provider of technology products and services to aerospace, defence and security markets - Appoints James Mortensen as chief financial officer. Mortensen joins Chemring from Smiths Group PLC, the FTSE 100-listed engineering group where he has spent the last seven years, and where he was most recently the group head of corporate development on the M&A team.

Mortensen takes over from Andrew Lewis, whose notice period runs out on January 22, 2024. Chemring says it is working with Mortensen to agree the date when he will join.

Chair Carl-Peter Foster says: ‘Considerable work has been done in recent years to strengthen Chemring’s balance sheet and reposition itself. James’s broad experience within the industrials sector will be of great benefit to the group as we balance near term performance with long term growth and value creation for all our stakeholders.’
