IN BRIEF: Rio Tinto says Aluminium division chief to leave in December

Rio Tinto PLC - Anglo-Australian mining and metals company - Ivan Vella, chief executive officer of Rio’s Aluminium business, has accepted a new position outside the company and will leave in December. He will continue to lead the Aluminium division during the search for his successor, Rio says, but has stepped down from the executive committee with immediate effect.

Group CEO Jakob Stausholm says: ‘Ivan has made a significant contribution during his 20-year career with Rio Tinto, holding senior positions across the aluminium, iron ore, copper, and coal product groups, providing both operational and strategic leadership. We thank him for his contribution and wish him every success for the future.’

Current stock price: 5,166.00 pence, up 1.9% on Tuesday
