AVI Japan Opportunity Trust PLC - London-based investment company focused on over-capitalised small-cap Japanese equities - Reports net asset value declined by 2.3% over the quarter to June 30. No values were given. Explains an 11% weakening of the Japanese yen against the pound detracted from what was otherwise a buoyant period for the Japanese stock market with AVI Japan’s NAV in yen gaining 9.1%. AVI Japan says: ‘Our approach to engaging with undervalued, high-quality companies is bearing fruit, and if we see a reversal in yen weakness and flows into small caps, we could be in for a period of strong NAV growth.’
