Decline in Irish wholesale prices deepens in September

Irish wholesale prices fell in September on a monthly basis, while an annual fall accelerated, according to figures from the Irish Central Statistics Office on Friday.

Wholesale prices fell 0.9% in September on a monthly basis, following a 2.7% rise in August from July.

On an annual basis, wholesale price deflation quickened to 2.6% in September, from 0.3% in August. It is the sixth month in succession that wholesale prices fell year-on-year.

Electricity prices rose 4.8% in September on a monthly basis following an 11% increase in August, but fell 61% in September from a year earlier.
