Wishbone Gold PLC on Monday celebrated its non-executive director Michael Mainelli’s appointment as the 695th Lord Mayor of the City of London.

The Australia-focused mining company said Mainelli will take a sabbatical from his position as a director of Wishbone during his year as Lord Mayor, which will begin next week.

Wishbone Chair says: ‘Michael’s election as Lord Mayor is a wonderful further achievement to add to his two years as a Sheriff of London. We all wish him every success and are very proud of him. I know he will be a brilliant global ambassador for the UK financial and professional services industry.’

Shares in Wishbone Gold were up 5.8% at 2.28 pence each in London on Monday afternoon.
