Ireland’s annual inflation rate cooled markedly last month, numbers on Thursday showed.
According to the Central Statistics Office, the nation’s consumer inflation rate ebbed to 5.1% in October, from 6.4% in September.
It does still mean the rate of inflation remains above 5.0%, however, a threshold it has topped for two years straight.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3% in October, picking up speed from a 0.1% rise in September from August.
On a harmonised basis, allowing for EU-wide comparison, consumer prices grew 3.6% on-year in October, cooling from a 5.0% increase in September.
