Ireland’s rate of consumer price inflation abated last month, according to a flash estimate from the Central Statistics Office on Tuesday.
The annual harmonised rate of consumer price inflation, allowing for EU-wide comparison, faded to 1.7% in March from 2.3% in February. The eurozone’s rate of inflation stood at 2.6% in February. Single currency area data for March is released on Wednesday.
On a monthly basis, Irish consumer prices rose 0.3% in March. They had risen 1.1% in February from January.
Energy prices are estimated to have fallen 3.1% in March from February and 8.4% on-year. Food prices are down 0.1% from February, though up 2.6% on-year.
