British housebuilder Persimmon PLC is considering a £1 billion takeover of Cala Group, Sky News reported on Saturday.
Persimmon is mulling an offer for Cala, which builds homes across Scotland, the Midlands and the South East of England. It operates under the brands Cala Homes and Legal & General Homes.
Citing insiders, Sky reported that Cala, which is being auctioned by FTSE 100 firm Legal & General Group PLC, could fetch about £1 billion.
Sky News noted analysts also expected offers for Cala from other housebuilders, which could include Taylor Wimpey PLC. The deadline to make a bid occurs this week.
