Irish consumer price inflation stays at 2.6% in May; 2.0% harmonised

Ireland’s annual consumer price inflation was flat in May, data from the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.

Ireland consumer price index rose 2.6% in May from a year before, the same annual inflation rate as in April.

Excluding energy and unprocessed food, CPI was up 3.5% annually in May, the same rate as the CSO had reported for April.

On a monthly basis, consumer price inflation ticked up to 0.5% in May from 0.2% in April.

Harmonised CPI, which allows for EU-wide comparison, rose by 2.0% in May from a year before, accelerating 1.6% in April. The flash estimate for May’s harmonised inflation rate had been 1.9%.

Harmonised CPI inflation edged up to 0.6% in May from 0.2% in April.
