Filtronic PLC announced on Friday it had signed a deal to relocate its Sedgefield site to a larger, purpose-built facility on the same business park in early 2025.
Filtronic is a Sedgefield, England-based designer and manufacturer of products for the aerospace, defence, telecoms infrastructure, and low earth orbit space markets. It will move its current Sedgefield site to a different facility at NetPark, Sedgefield, County Durham to enable a ‘significant’ expansion in both capability and capacity.
Filtronic said the investment was part of a broader strategy to enhance its position as a global designer and manufacturer of high-performance mmWave technologies. The new site will have advanced clean-room areas, engineering laboratories and testing facilities.
Chief Executive Officer Nat Edington said: ‘The increased manufacturing footprint and enhanced testing facilities in our new building is critical to the successful execution of our strategy. We have reached a point where we have outgrown our existing building and are excited to move to a new facility that is purpose-built and meets our needs to give us the flexibility we need to continue growing our business.’
Shares in Filtronic fell 0.5% to 76.60 pence each in London on Friday morning.
