Ireland’s consumer price inflation abated last month, numbers on Thursday showed. slipping below the 2% threshold for the first time since June 2021.
According to the Central Statistics Office, the pace of annual consumer price inflation in Ireland cooled to 1.7% in August, from 2.2% in July.
‘This is the first time since June 2021 that Ireland’s official measure of annual inflation, has been below 2.0%,’ the CSO said.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.1% in August, easing from a 0.2% rise in July from June.
On a harmonised basis, allowing for EU-wide comparison, the annual rate of consumer price inflation abated to 1.1% in August, from 1.5% in July.
Harmonised prices rose 0.1% in August from July. They rose 0.2% in July from June.
