Card Factory PLC, up 4.2% at 138.60 pence, 12-month range 88.10p-144.25p. UBS raises the greeting cards seller to ’buy’ from ’neutral’.

Middlefield Canadian Income PCC, up 1.4% at 116.65p, 12-month range 92.47p-117.45p. The stock hits this one-year high. The investor in ‘high quality, Canadian large capitalisation businesses’ reports a net asset value per share of 121.22 pence at the June 30 half-year end, down 0.3% on-year from 121.63p. It reports a 1.9% NAV total return, beating its benchmark’s 0.3% advance.

Capricorn Energy PLC, down 3.1% at 217.97p, 12-month range 109.20p-273.60p. The Egypt-focused oil and gas exploration company surrenders some of Thursday’s 3.1% advance. On Thursday, it backed its annual outlook and noted ‘material cash collections in Egypt’. Revenue from production in the first half of 2024 fell 18% to $80.8 million from $98.8 million. It swung to a pretax profit, however, of £16.4 million from a loss of £37.4 million.
