Irish consumer price inflation steady at 0.7% in October

The rate of Irish consumer price inflation was steady last month, data from the Central Statistics Office showed Thursday.

Consumer price increased 0.7% on-year in October, matching the pace of growth seen in September.

The category with the largest on-year increase in prices was alcoholic beverages & tobacco with 4.9% growth. The largest decline was seen in clothing & footwear, with a fall of 7.4%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.3% in October from September. They had declined 0.9% in September from August.

On a harmonised basis, which allows for EU-wide comparison, annual consumer price index inflation picked up to 0.1% in October. Prices had been flat on-year in September, according to the harmonised calculation.

Prices rose 0.3% monthly on a harmonised basis in October, after a 1.0% slide in September from August.
