Frasers Group PLC is to name the former head of the UK’s corporate governance watchdog as its next chair, Sky News reported on Saturday.
The Sports Direct owner will name Jon Thompson, currently a non-executive director, as its next chair from 2025. Thompson will take over from incumbent David Daly ‘sometime next year’, Sky News reported.
Thompson was formerly the head of the UK Financial Reporting Council, which oversees corporate governance matters.
Thompson joined the Frasers board in June.
‘Jon’s expertise in corporate governance, reporting and audit, and experience in large-scale project management, will strengthen the execution of Frasers’ long-term growth strategy and continue to position the group as a leading international business,’ Frasers said at the time.
He was formerly the chief executive officer of HMRC, the UK’s tax authority.
