BWA welcomes increased interest in Cameroon minerals sector

BWA Group PLC on Tuesday said it noted recent announcements by Australian mining firms Peak Minerals Ltd and DY6 Metals Ltd regarding their exploration activities in Cameroon, which are located close to BWA’s own licence areas.

The London-based mineral exploration firm said the developments by Peak and DY6 support its confidence in the industrial minerals potential of its Cameroon projects, which target rutile and other mineral sands.

Peak Minerals, listed on the Australian Securities Exchange, earlier this month reported a ‘broad-spaced rutile discovery’ at its Minta project, which it aims to expand to a ‘globally significant scale.’ The Minta permit spans 3,500 square kilometres and borders BWA’s Nkoteng licence area.

Meanwhile, fellow ASX-listed DY6 Metals said it will soon commence exploration at its Douala Basin and Central Rutile projects, which lie close to BWA’s Dehane licences.

‘The board believes the interest in the sector by other international mining companies validates its confidence in the attractiveness of its own industrial minerals projects,’ BWA said.

BWA holds mineral exploration licences in both Cameroon and Canada, focused on early-stage industrial and critical mineral opportunities.

Shares in BWA were last quoted at 0.525 pence in the Aquis Stock Exchange.
