Rome Resources PLC on Monday said it has discovered a new tin zone at its Bisie North project in the North Kivu Province, in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The tin and base metals explorer said the 40 metre wide tin-bearing zone at a shallow depth, identified on the eastern flank of the Mont Agoma prospect, was intercepted by hold MADD030.
Grades of tin mineralisation will be provided once laboratory results are reported, the company said. Assay results are expected before the end of July.
To date, four holes totalling 737 metres have been completed since mid-May at Mount Agoma, with three rigs currently drilling.
‘To date all the Mont Agoma drilling has focused on the main ridge where the geochemical anomaly is strongest. These initial indications from MADD030 open up the exciting scenario where tin mineralisation is present beyond the limits of our known footprint, potentially opening up the whole of the eastern flank of Mont Agoma. This is exactly the kind of upside we hoped to unlock with this new phase of drilling,’ said Chief Executive Officer Paul Barrett.
‘With three rigs turning, work in relation to our maiden mineral resource estimate underway and work due to start soon on the metallurgy of the deposit, Rome is building serious momentum on both the exploration and development fronts. We will continue sharing further updates in relation to drilling progress as well as assay results as they become available.’
Shares in Rome Resources were up 3.5% at 0.33 pence each in London on Monday morning. The stock is up 16% over the past year.
