UK gross domestic product falls 0.2% in second quarter

UK gross domestic product contracted by 0.2% in the second quarter of 2019, according to a preliminary reading from the Office for National Statistics.

The market had expected a flat GDP performance.

In the month of June, GDP was flat, missing expectations for 0.1% growth.
