US unemployment rate steady at 3.7%; wages rise 0.4%

The US non-farm unemployment rate stayed steady in August at 3.7% amid the addition of 130k jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The market had been expecting the jobless rate to remain steady, though with the addition of 165k jobs.

Average hourly earnings rose by 11 cents, or 0.4%, to $28.11, above expectations of a 0.3% gain.
