UK house prices fell by 0.4% on-month during September to £232,574, according to lender Halifix.

The fall countered market expectations of a 0.4% rise.

On an annual basis, house prices were up 1.1%.

The annual growth rate was the slowest level since April 2013, said Halifax managing director Russell Galley.

'Looking ahead, we expect activity levels and price growth to remain subdued while the current period of economic uncertainty persists,' Galley added.
