UK retail sales fall unexpectedly, by 0.6%, in December

UK retail sales fell 0.6% in December, according to the Office for National Statistics, defying expectations of a rise.

The market had been expecting retail sales to improve 0.5% in December, after they fell by a downwardly revised 0.8% in November.
